What PTFE and PFAS free actually means
The two acronyms behind most non-stick coatings, and why our surface is built without them.
PTFE is the polymer behind conventional non-stick. PFAS is the broader family of fluorinated compounds it belongs to. Both do their job well, and both are increasingly unwelcome in the kitchens of people who read labels.
The Stellyfire surface
Our coating is a mineral-based forged ceramic, cured onto a pressure-forged aluminium body. No PTFE, no PFAS, no PFOA. Release comes from the smoothness of the cured ceramic rather than from a fluorinated film.
What that changes in practice
You cook a little lower and use a little fat. In exchange you get a surface that tolerates high-heat Indian cooking without the anxiety, and one that is ISI certified for the way this country actually cooks.
